❦Chapter 4 Invitations❦

Pgs. 68-84

Summary: In this chapter, Bella becomes highly annoyed by all the Spring Dance invitations from Tyler, Mike and Eric. She decides to go to Seattle that weekend. Edward offers to drive her. Of course, she's extremely shocked and agrees. ✳Important change: Bella notices Edward's eyes get darker and darker as the weeks progress.✳

This entry I'll write about some minor, yet important character. I admire Bella's dad, Charlie. He is a very good, loving father. He gives her needed space, which in my experience is a very important thing for a teenage girl. Especially one dealing with loving a vampire. Although, he is always there for Bella, silently. Like when he put chains on her truck, that one icy day. And in the book and movie, he tried to make it comfortable for her, by buying her the faded red Chevy and the purple comforter, which is very warm and cozy! He also guides her in a way. He is her human rock throughout the books. Also he is very like his daughter, he has the brown eyes and many other traits. He's clumsy and hates special events. He also dislikes dressing up. In Breaking Dawn, when Alice was dressing him in a suit for the wedding; he referred to it as 'the monkey suit.' One of my favorite 'Charlie' scenes in Twilight, is when he's about to meet Edward, then loads his shotgun and says, "bring him in!" Hilarious father figure! My dad would probably do the same thing, if he had a gun. It is a good thing, that Edward is bullet proof!

❦Chapter 3 Phenomenon❦

Pgs. 53-67

Summary: The pivotal car crash occurs in this chapter. It makes Bella realize, that Edward is special and very different than the average human. A out of control van spins to crush Bella. In about five seconds, Edward is able to run across the parking lot, and push/lift the van away from Bella! This attention grabbing move, plagues Bella until, she gets distracted by handsome Dr. Cullen. She confronts Edward, but he stays silent & mysterious.

In this chapter I really like the way the writer presents this scene. It's so clear that you can easily imagine it in your head. It gives out the movie screen effect, and Stephenie really makes you feel like you were there. To me, these are two key qualities in a good book. Thats one of the reasons, why I fell in love with the Twilight Saga. She also, increased my vocabulary with words like; irrevocable and masochistic. I remember, I was so excited to see the crash scene in the movie. Catherine (director of Twilight), did a wonderful job capturing the passion and amazement, perfectly in this infamous scene. It kinda annoyed me though, that Rosalie was so upset. Sure it sorta exposed them, but if he didn't save her than there would be a ton of blood and guts. That, would for sure, drive the Cullens in a frenzy; especially Jasper. And that would possibly totally expose them. And even though he did save her it's his choice! He has the right to makes his own choices, even though he's a vampire. If Rosalie's loved ones were in a situation like that I bet she would save them. Then again, maybe not! 0.o

❦Chapter 2 Open Book❦

Pgs. 29-52

Summary: In chapter 2, Bella has her second day at school; she quickly makes friends with Eric, Mike, Jessica and Angela. Edward is absent for a few days, and leaves Bella puzzled to why he hates her so much. She fears that his absence is caused by her. Finally Edward shows up. In Biology, they do the famous 'phases of Mitosis lab', and Edward introduces himself. Thus, they have their first conversation, and Bella confides that she is a 'open book.' ✳Important change: Edward's eyes are now topaz, way different than the pitch black from last week.✳

We first formally, meet Edward in this chapter. So I think it's important that I mention my favorite character in this book, which is Edward. Even though he's a vampire, he has lots of morals & ethics, which makes him different from nomadic vampires. Since he's from 1918, he is very polite, even to Jacob! He always thinks about others, loves his family and is quite chivalrous. He madly loves Bella, yet wants her to have a normal human life. Not to mention, the fact that even though she smells delicious to him he would never ever hurt her, or attempt to taste her blood. A understatement would be, that he has great willpower! He is also very protecting, which in my case is a very important quality, in a human or immortal. When he makes the great mistake to leave Bella, he did not do it to hurt her. One could argue, that it hurt him even more than Bella. But point being, he cares so much for her, he wanted to give her the chance at a human life. Last but not least, he's a smexy vampire! Now, can you say 'perfect guy'?
